Angel Archives - 30/06/2023

Updated: Jun 30, 2023

NAIDOC week and Christmas in July - In the coming fortnight at The Castle we're going to be acknowledging contributions to music, art and the environment by our first nations people. We'll also be celebrating Christmas in July the week afterwards.

Precious Angels have capacity! We are in a position to welcome some new families into our care. If you know a family looking for amazing carers, please send them our way.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS We have had lots of fun filled and exciting days here at The Castle. It's been fabulous to watch our younger participants form new friendships and have fun joining in Apple's sensory stimulation framework programs. There has been a hive of activity every day, and I'm sure our Castle Crew regulars have enjoyed the change, but are also looking forward to school returning Monday 10 July.

Unless we hear otherwise from you, we will return to our usual school term schedules from Monday 10 July.

Precious Angels are searching for a new respite home. We are finding this difficult still, so if you know of anyone looking for good, reliable tenants, please let us know

Emails for Respite and RostersPlease send all emails for care/rostering to rosters@preciousangelsinhomecare.com.au (please continue to cc: admin mailbox while we introduce the new mailboxes)

Please note, we will not be using the respite email address

Precious Angels Office Hours are 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday. If the office is closed, please contact the afterhours number (0421 521 750). The afterhours phone is shared between Amanda during the week and Kayla on weekends.

Mackay Office Number (07) 4846 1964. Mackay Afterhours number 0493 248 053.

From the desk of Amanda:

June has been a month of highs, and lows. We passed our NDIA registration audit, implemented new strategies around training and rostering, and defined roles around our new look management team.

I now formally introduce Dillon Mitchelson as my Assistant Manager. Dillon has been informally performing this role for a number of months, and I would like to recognise the valuable work he is contributing to the running of Precious Angels. Dillon will be assisting with many things, including ensuring our Schedules of Supports, Individual Support Plans and Service Agreements are all updated. Dillon may be in touch to visit with you to assist in completing the updated paperwork.

The NDIA have increased their prices effective 1 July 2023, and we will increase our prices effective 3 July 2023. Our staff are also getting a 5.75% pay increase effective 3 July 2023. To ensure you continue to get the most value for your NDIS funding packages, Precious Angels are committed to retaining Respite (STA) fees at Assist With Daily Living rates. Our other prices will be increasing inline with NDIA. An email will be sent to all families with our new pricing schedule.

We have one more week of school holidays, and school resumes Monday 10 July. Unless we hear otherwise from you, we will resume our regular school term schedules for you.

For myself, I will be down the Gold Coast this weekend running the annual Gold Coast Marathon. This is my 3rd marathon, and I will be runing in memory of Princess Gabby, who grew her Angel Wings on 16 June. We thank all the people who have donated to our organisation in Memory of Gabby, and for those people who continue to support her family.

Dillon will be acting in my role while I recover from the marathon.

@The Castle

We're happy to welcome Emmett into our Angel Family. He instantly made great friends with Enoch and they have had a ball, in the ballpit. We also focused on sensory activities for a lot of our regular participants, letting them experience a variety of unusual feelings as well as getting their opinions on our cooking and experiencing all the lovely smells of baking.

Out with the Brisbane Angels

We love exploring with our participants! Seeing our participants smile really is its own reward. This week we're featuring Luke enjoying the ducks at the park, Caleb loving the RSPCA and their guinea pigs, and Tara who's absolutely loving her new haircut. We also have Connor enjoying music classes!

Out with Mackay Angels

Our Mackay Angels have had a big fortnight with beach trips, the Mackay show and fun activities, there's plenty of smiles and fun memories being made! All the sights and sounds look like so much fun! Amber really looked like she was enjoying the cow until it decided to try and eat her! Andy was having fun with the livestock and at a park and if you look really close you'll see our "Arch Angel" Cathy! We also have some great photos of the fun we're having, toasted marshmallows and gaming and even helping out with chores. What a lovely fortnight :)

Photo of the Week

This fortnight's winner features Kaitlyn at the Mackay show. What a great photo with a fluffy little chicken!

Angel of the Fortnight

The Angel Award this fortnight is going to Jess!

Dedicated and compassionate Jess consistently provides excellent care and we know the Precious Angels family is lucky to have her.

Your work is awesome, thank you!
