School Holidays - Term 2 ends on Friday 21 June. That is 3 weeks away. Apple and Kayla have started planning school holiday activities for the Castle and Sunflower. Please let us know what changes you will need during school holidays (22 June to 7 July).
New Families - Brisbane have been busy onboarding new families. So of course that means we need more support workers. We advertise now on facebook job pages and NDIS pages, but if you know wonderful people looking to join the sector, please pass on our information (or theirs).
Training - our new eLearn platform is up and running. All employees should have logged in and checked what training they have waiting. Toni will be making sure you all know how to log in and get started. We are also looking to engage with specialist trainers to meet our High Intensity Skills as per NDIS standards.
Post School Leavers - We are starting to reach out to schools to present ourselves as an option for post school leavers in the area. We have created a Castle brochure which we will add to our website soon and start sending to schools.

Our new eLearn Platform (supplied by eTrainU) is up and running. Toni will start contacting staff next week to make sure you know how to log in and get started. I've also been talking to a number of providers who will be able to provide our High Intensity Skill training.
I know we've had a few staff sick in the past few weeks,so this is your reminder to get your flu and covid vaccine update if you have not already done so.
As most people know, I love to run. I know. Crazy. Parkrun every saturday is my favourtie place to start my weekend. You dont even have to be a runner. You can walk, jog skip or run. There are more than a few people in wheelchairs also. Just search parkrun in your favourite browser to find your nearest location. Brisbane is spoilt for choices! Registration is free, and if you download the 5K app, you dont even need to print your barcode. I will be volunteering at the Brisbane Marathon Race Pack Collection centre on saturday afternoon (but will not be running this event). My next big event will be the half marathon at the Gold Coast (July 6 and 7)
I share this because it is so important that as support workers and carers we look after ourselves too. You can't pour from an empty cup. Self-care is the conscious effort of making time for activities you find beneficial in maintaining your mental and physical health. Caring for your mind and body doesn’t have to be time consuming, but does require regular and ongoing attention. Eating and drinking well, getting enough sleep, exercising, avoiding alcohol and drugs, and living a healthy active lifestyle are just some of the physical health related aspects of self-care, but don’t forget to focus on the mental health aspects too, like relaxation, mindfulness, social connections, and hobbies.
Sometimes looking after yourself is the best gift you can give to others.
So, what are you waiting for? Fill your cup and keep it full by practicing daily self-care.
Have a great weekend.
Amanda
@The Castle
We've had a blast hanging out with our Castle Crew, doing fun stuff like wheelchair dancing at SWARA, grabbing lunch in the neighborhood, playing with sensory toys, and even meeting Deanna's snake, Freckles!
Apple's Castle Program for next week is available on Facebook:
Out with the Angels
Our participants have been having so much fun! We went to a Vet and met some residents cats and dogs (Tara prefers the puppies), going out for lunch, exploring the community and participating in a bowling/silent disco with My Cool Events. What a great end of our month :)
Don't forget to check facebook for extra photos too.

Here is one of our new participant's Harry having a great time playing in the park with Holly on his first respite stay at Sunflower House.
Angel of the Fortnight
This Angel Award goes to Emily!
Emily is a new Angel and she's shown great promise with her interactions and organisation with her participants. Emily is kind and dilligent and we're excited to see how her skills develop.
We appreciate all your efforts!
Thanks for being a part of the Precious Angels family and keep up the great work. :)
